Edwards, Green and Associated Families

This is my family’s tree, a “work in progress.” The site was created mainly by my nephew-in-law, Colby Whitledge, graphics designer and computer whiz whose own site is www.theinfoworks.net. It has been recreated by me, my husband, Owen Knox, and uploaded with Colby’s assistance. Updates will occur every month or two. My maternal and paternal lines and those of my husband, and connected family members are represented.
The information comes from family interviews, and research in court houses, libraries, archives, books, and Internet sources
Living people are listed with (Private) after their names. RootsMagic5 also puts in this category all those whom I do not have a death date, no matter when they were born, so I'm in the process of putting Unknown, but have many more people born prior to 1915 to enter Unknown as a death date, so they will be included in future uploads
Primary states represented are VA, KY, PA, TN, OH, IL, MO, OR and most of the remaining original 48 states.
There are many, many surnames on this site as I have ALWAYS researched the siblings of our direct ancestors. Some connecting families, not in our direct lines, are also in my data base.
My family research began in 1962, in the days of pen, pencil, paper and 3 ring notebooks. I started data entry in the 1980s and restarted in 1991 with an early version of PAF. This site was created withRootsMagic4. Merging two separate PAF data bases created many duplicate entries. Errors in data entry and from research found on line and in books crept in over the years. Not all if these “problems” have been removed at the present time. A huge amount of data from my research remains to be entered and new information appears on the ‘net every day.
Sources are not entered in the same way as I changed from my earlier method. Uniformity and better documentation will occur over time.
The Internet is a wonderful resource, but not all family information is to be found there. Some of the data that is found, is not accurate. Family research is like an iceberg with the tip out of water representing Internet sources. The huge area underwater represents courthouses, libraries, archives, etc., that you have to either visit in person, write to, or find a local researcher who will help you.
I hope my family site helps my many “cousins” of all degrees of kinship, with some of their “holes” and “brick walls.” In addition, I hope to fill in some of my own.
Please feel free to contact me for further sharing, particulary if you have dates I do not have or a date to correct.
